If you don’t intend to drive through Hornby or Crakehall this Easter, it is well worth a detour past St Mary’s Hornby and St Gregory’s Crakehall Church to see the Easter Cross at Hornby and the Easter Garden at Crakehall in the churchyards. Ash Wednesday

Since early days Christians have observed with great devotion the time of our Lord’s passion and resurrection. It became the custom of the Church to prepare for this by a season of penitence and fasting.
As a sign of the spirit of penitence with which we shall keep this season of preparation for Easter, we invite you to receive on your head in ash the sign of the cross, the symbol of our salvation.
This year we have sent out packs with both liturgy and small envelopes containing ash made from last years palm cross, for you to mark this important day at home. If you are able, please do join us at our services at 09:00 or 18:00, however, we have also included a card with instructions if you would like to do so on your own. All Souls Service
Please come and join us at our
All Souls Commemoration Service
Each year we hold a service of commemoration at All Souls tide,
to remember before God all who have died and to comfort one another as we find ways to live without their presence with us.
This year the service will be held at St. Michael’s Spennithorne starting at 4 pm on Sunday 5th November. During the service we read out names that we have been asked to remember and offer each other the space to light a candle in memory of loved ones who are no longer with us.
