Tuesday 17th August 2021
all donations to St Andrew’s general funds with the aim of restoring the church roof
If you don’t intend to drive through Hornby or Crakehall this Easter, it is well worth a detour past St Mary’s Hornby and St Gregory’s Crakehall Church to see the Easter Cross at Hornby and the Easter Garden at Crakehall in the churchyards. Do stop for a quiet moment. Many thanks to Tony and Doreen; Liz, Alan, Stuart , Gilly and friends for their thoughtful work.
This year we are having Christingle at Home as we are unable to host the services in our Church buildings.
Christingle kits are being distributed via our village schools and in the bag you will find all you need to make your own Christingle, join in with a Christingle service and support the work of the Children’s Society

With Step 4 of the Government Roadmap has come a relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions.
Bishop Nick and his colleagues have written a letter to the churches of the Diocese which can be viewed here.
In the letter, he encourages us to look to the needs of our neighbours and to take a cautious approach to re-opening
Our approach here in Lower Wensleydale for the moment is
Masks are encouraged when moving around and when the building is crowded.
Spacing out by using alternate pews is a simple way to help others.
The Peace will continue to be shared from where we stand.
Communion also continues in the same format as we have used during the restrictions with the Priest bringing the consecrated wafers to the congregation.
Hospitality at the end of services we hope to be able to reintroduce this during September.
Test & Trace continues in line with best practice advice.
Our Church buildings will be open for private prayer during daylight hours.
(St Andrew’s Finghall by appointment and on Thursdays 14:00-16:00)
When you come
Please use hand sanitiser where provided. We warmly encourage all those attending this Church, especially when the building is crowded, to continue to use face coverings; remembering that they are mainly intended to protect other people, not the wearer, from coronavirus COVID-19 and that they are not a replacement for physical distancing and regular hand washing.
Do not enter if you feel unwell or are displaying any symptoms of COVID-19.
· High temperature
· Continuous cough
· Loss of taste and smell
Please follow all directions and markers set out and avoid contact with items as far as possible.
God of healing and peace, we give thanks for this place in which
to worship you. Guide each of us as we enter and leave to keep it
safe, as we seek protection for all from the coronavirus; in the name
of him who gave his life for us all, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
